Pterodactyl is a pterosaur in the late Jurassic. It is characterized by light and compact skull, thin and hollow bone, especially elongated first finger to support membrane wings, and short hind limbs. All members of pterodactylaceae have short tails and long heads.
Some of the middle species of pterodactyls were as big as sparrows; Others can be as big as eagles, with wings of up to 30-70 cm. They feed on insects, and some may forage for fish. The whole group of pterosaurs is a suborder of pterosaurs. It doesn’t really belong to dinosaurs in classification, but just close relatives of dinosaurs.
