Yarrow is a perennial herb of Achillea in Compositae, with fine stoloniferous rhizome. Stem erect, 40-100 cm high, finely striated, usually white villous, upper branched or unbranched, with shortened sterile branches in axils above middle. Achene oblong, ca. 2 mm, pale green.
Yarrow is resistant to cold, light and weak alkaline soil. Yarrow likes fertile, well drained soil and a sunny environment. The Pacific is distributed in Mongolia, Iran, Europe, Russia, Africa, and Chinese mainland's northeast, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other places.
Yarrow is often associated with fortune telling. Scots use it as an amulet or lucky charm. People think it has the power to expel evil spirits, and the church also relies on it to fight against demons.
